Reigning cats and dogs?

Do dogs have ‘dignity’? Can you ‘murder’ a cat?

The comments left by Daily Mail readers under two articles today seem to suggest that people these days care more about animals than human beings.

The dog story is about poodles done up to resemble other animals at ‘creative grooming’ dog shows in America.

It’s not really my bag, but if bored housewives want to snip their poodles into funny shapes and then spray-paint them using blow-pens, who am I to complain? They could get up to a lot worse.

It’s a pity most of the Mail’s readers hadn’t managed to get past the pictures and read the article. The official photographer for the past decade said:

‘The dogs seem to love the whole experience,’ added Mr Netherland. ‘One of the reasons I love my job is because I love animals so much. I much prefer working with them than people.

‘By the time the dogs get to me after they have been through the tournament they are bounding around and very happy.

‘I think all the attention that gets bestowed upon them through the whole process must be nice for them.’

Here are some comments from Mail readers about the grooming show:

This is why I have lost all faith in human-kind.

A slight over-reaction, perhaps. It’s not like they are kneecapping the mutts then lobbing them out of an eighth floor window.

If people want to make clowns out of themselves, go on. But don’t force pets to do that

Yeah, what about clowns? Surely that is torture?

i feel sick with disgust.

I am disgusted at the lax standard of written English these days and especially the growing use of lower case letters to start sentences. An ‘I’ at that, which should always be capitalised anyway. I feel sick with disgust.

sick!

Where’s that capital ‘S’?

My son aged 7 said “Mum that’s not right, the dog doesn’t look happy”

Never mind. In a few years he’ll be getting his own hair spiked and dyed.

That’s the pet equivalent of dolling up little 5 year old girls to be “glamour models”.

No it’s not!

Its as bad as parents that dress their children up like bimbos!

I said, no it’s not. I don’t think the poodles are being dressed up to look sexy. Maybe to other poodles, who knows?

What happened to these poor animals’ dignity?

They never had any. They are animals. The ‘dignity’ is imagined. The Gaia-worshipping environmentalist evolutionists want you to think you are worth no more than a slug.

Only in America! Thank God!

Maybe I’ll organise a UK tour.

Now the cat story: Serial cat killer on the loose after eight pets are killed by anti-freeze on the same street.

This sounds like a case for Dangermouse.

This one’s not ‘only in America’, it’s in our very own Wales.

Families have compiled a case list to give to police and the RSPCA to show how pets have died at numbers 33, 35, 43, 46, 49 and 83 in their street – with two families losing two cats.

Could it be a deranged lottery winner who lost his ticket?

I’m not wishing to make light of the people whose pets have died in considerable pain. It’s the Daily Mail readers I am ridiculing. It’s getting easier by the day.

Who would want to be a cat in Bridgend?

Who would want to be a cat in Bridgend?

Utter sickness, I hope this evil, sick, un-educated monster is caught and put to jail!!

I wouldn’t call Peter Mandelson uneducated, but I agree he should be locked up. Now what do you think about the cat poisoner?

They may not like cats, but there are some of us who prefer them to humans.

I think this person is probably scarier than the cat killer.

Yes we get that some people do not like cats, but there is no need to murder them.

Calling it murder just devalues the killing of humans.

The moral of the story is this:

We live in a society where maybe half the population has been brainwashed into believing that aborting a human being chemically or surgically is ‘a woman’s right’ but if you kill a cat with chemicals you are a murderer.

They think dumb animals have dignity, but not the human race.

We’re in trouble.
