Your new Führer

In the 1940s, Adolf Hitler dreamed of being the Führer of the whole of Europe.

In 2009, the job is the same, but is expected to be filled by a different war criminal: Tony Blair.

Czech president Vaclav Klaus has had his opt-out conditions met and is expected to sign the Lisbon Treaty any time now.

The Mail reports

Tony Blair could be crowned first President of Europe at a special summit of EU leaders next month.

Diplomatic sources say French President Nicolas Sarkozy is pushing for an extraordinary meeting in Brussels to install the former prime minister in the new £275,000-a-year post.

Supporters of Mr Blair’s candidacy are racing to get a deal stitched up as doubts grow about whether the forthcoming inquiry into the Iraq war could prove a major stumbling block.

So, even if we get a Tory government in the Spring, we have Blair – BLAIR! – as emperor. What do the Tories have to say:

The Conservatives have told the French that making him EU president would be viewed by an incoming Tory government as a ‘declaration of war’.

I take that to mean they will wave the white flag. This ‘war’ hasn’t been fought Napoleon or Hitler’s way, but with stealth and propaganda. Bit-by-bit; slowly, slowly catchee monkey, and it’s nearly done. Blair prepared the police state at home and so he is perfectly qualified to be Europe’s chief despot.

I look forward to the day he is dragged from his bunker to face charges for his criminal activity: chiefly warmongering and treason.

I’m afraid you won’t see him tried for treason in this country. He abolished the offense, just before he lied about the WMD and invaded another sovereign nation (Iraq) without a declaration of war. Strange that.

May the Lord reward this awful man according to his deeds.

Now chaps, a bit of order please.

It’s ‘softly softly catchee monkey’, and I take at offence at ‘offense’ which is an American word. US imperialism is quite bad enough without pandering to it.

As for Blair… well, I agree with you both about one thing: there is a hell – it’s just that it’s here on Earth, in this lifetime.

    Hey Jim,

I don’t really have a point (at the moment) about this particular post, I just feel a little bit guilty for not replying to your
previous comment that wished me a good day. In light of my ignorant behaviour, I apologise, and I wish you a jolly good day indeed.

    English,

Thank you. I hope you and yours are well.

Great to see that this blog promotes peace and understanding.

    Jim,

The OED lists ‘offense’ and ‘offensive’ as the perfectly correct spelling of the words. Perhaps the ‘yanks’ have got to them?

  7. Jim Baxter says:

    English,

Well, my old Chambers, late of Edinburgh, dictionary mentions that spelling in a footnote as ‘chiefly US’. I admire the American people as much as I despise their governments but believe that anything that is chiefly US is chiefly not us.

    Jim,

I meant to say re. Hell. Some people say that it is on this earth, but the real Hell is a place that is worse than anywhere you would find on earth. Having your legs blown off in Iraq would be like the holiday of a lifetime in comparison.
