Little succour for “scum-sucking” sucker

I wasn’t going to bother writing about Scum-sucking-pig-gate, or whatever they are calling it, but one of my Twitter followers, Chuckie Roberts, said I’ve been on the news where he is. They showed a screenshot of David Wright’s Twitter page and it slowly dawned on me that I was the last person to tweet to him alive!

David Wright MP: has not Twittered for twenty-four hours. Presumed bound and gagged in Labour HQ.

He’s not dead, just mortified at the huge media interest in his tweet, which said, “#ivenevervotedtory because you can put lipstick on a scum-sucking pig and it’s still a scum-sucking pig. And cos they would ruin Britain”. The New Labour MP for Telford and I were having a chat about TV comedy shows because one of my favourites is Sledge Hammer, a madcap cop show from the mid-80s, has the ‘hero,’ played by David Rasche, calling criminals such names as scumsuckers, maggots, genetic mutants and yoghurt-eating creeps and I wondered if this had been Mr Wright’s inspiration for his insult.

He said he didn’t remember the show, but went to the official website and it rang a bell.

I don’t like to talk about private conversations, even on Twitter, even with New Labour people, but I’ll just say that for him to now suggest that the tweet which has caused the offence was tampered with is clearly ludicrous. If he had just apologised then I would have had some respect for him – what little respect you can have for a Labour MP, that is, after how they have misbehaved. To lie is to add insult to injury, or injury to insult, in this case. Maybe the inability not to lie is in MPs’ DNA. A survival instinct gone awry.

Cranmer has picked up on the insult,

But it is not the ‘scum-sucking pig’ comment which causes Cranmer great offence; it is the assertion that that the Conservatives ‘would ruin Britain’.

Well, they would/will, but Cranmer continues,

Setting aside the question of hyperbole, what does David Wright think Labour have done to the country after 13 years?

Taken us to war on a false premise.
Replaced Cabinet government with a politburo.
Diminished democracy.
Marginalised Parliament.
Taken in three million immigrants.
Saddled us with recession.
Soaring unemployment.
The highest youth unemployment in history.
Eroded our liberties.
Abolished the right to trial by jury.
Raped the Constitution.
Politicised the civil service.
Brought us to the brink of bankruptcy.
Sold off our gold reserves at the bottom of the market.
Raided our pensions.
Subjected us to the Lisbon Treaty.
Failing schools.
Relegation from 7th to 24th in maths and literacy rankings.
Pensioner poverty.
Increased inequality.
Caused fascists to be elected to Brussels.
Increased tax burden.
Given us 5000 new laws.
Created an authoritarian state.
Debased our politics.

And David Wright believes it is the Conservatives who would ruin Britain?

He does believe it, but even worse, he believes that New Labour hasn’t. And millions agree/cannot think for themselves.

P.S. Sorry about the corny headline. It probably reminds you of, You can’t get quicker than a Quick Fit fitter!
